According to Roosevelt Island Tram Operator Leitner Poma of America:
The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC), in partnership with Leitner‑Poma of America (LPOA), is launching a new series of short video profiles that spotlight the employees who keep the Roosevelt Island Tram running every day….
Through brief interviews and personal storytelling, the videos offer viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the human side of tram operations—introducing the operators, mechanics, and support staff whose passion, expertise, and dedication ensure the Tram operates safely, reliably, and on schedule. Each profile highlights the unique background and perspective each team member brings to one of New York City’s most iconic transportation systems….
According to RIOC:
A cabin attendant on the Roosevelt Island Tram and a lifelong Island resident, Laurence has a deep personal connection to the Tram. When he was born, his mother rode the Tram to the hospital—and years later, Laurence was trained by the very cabin attendant who was on duty that day. He also remembers watching Spider-Man as a kid and seeing the Green Goblin battle Spider-Man on the Tram, a moment that made the Tram feel legendary long before he ever worked there.
