Roosevelt Island Historical Society President Judy Berdy penned an excellent article for Politico. According to Ms. Berdy:

… Roosevelt Island is a community of 14,000 located in the East River between Manhattan and Queens. Team Clinton deserves credit for the choice. Theyve handpicked a location that is far more than a mnemonic reference to the 1930s president and economic champion that Clinton wants to be associated with. At its heart, Roosevelt Island is an American social experiment with a rich pasta living, historical embodiment of many major issues that Clinton wants to champion.
