The newly opened Café Aviva
is one of the best things to happen on Roosevelt Island since the opening of the Mediterranean Eatery casual restaurant in September 2022. That’s not surprising since both are owned by local resident Alon Kruvi.
I spoke with Mr Kruvi last Friday, April 25.
According to Mr Kruvi:
Café Aviva is a homestyle European influenced coffee shop with homemade pastries good Italian coffee, a place to sit down and relax. We have indoor seating and we had outdoor seating for one day yesterday and it will come back as soon as we get our approval from RIOC so people can sit outside, enjoy the sunshine and have a good cup of coffee or a nice cold drink…
Mr Kruvi adds:
Aviva, as you can see right behind you was my late Mom. She inspired me. She passed away in 2019, but her inspiration is all around this place. The decor, the bling, the shine, the gold is all her style and this is kind of my tribute to my great Mom who was a wonderful lady…

Mr. Kruvi knows how to delight and comfort his customers. He has brought a new vive to Main Street.
