The final Agenda item for tomorrow’s meeting will be an Executive Session closed to the public, which follows a June 18 Special Meeting Of the RIOC Board Of Directors, also held in Executive Session.
According to reliable sources, the RIOC Board has recommended the appointment of a person to fill the vacant President/CEO position subject to the approval of NY State Governor Kathy Hochul. Though unconfirmed, speculation is that the June 23 Executive Session will be to discuss and finalize the appointment of the new RIOC President/CEO. As reported last April 22:
… Multiple reliable sources have confirmed to me that among those applying for the RIOC President/CEO position are Mr Ellis and former Roosevelt Island NYC Council Member Ben Kallos…
… At least one other applicant for the RIOC President/CEO position is connected to the Battery Park City Authority, considered to be RIOC’s sister agency in NY State government….
Tomorrow’s Board meeting will also see two new RIOC Directors seated.
NY State Governor Kathy Hochul announced today that Roosevelt Island residents Marc Block and Melissa Wade were named to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) Board of Directors. They fill the vacant seats left by the resignation of former RIOC Director Ben Fhala and the departure of long time RIOC Director David Kraut who was appointed in 1994.
You’re invited to attend, ask questions and share concerns about Roosevelt Island issues during the opening Public Session before the start of the RIOC Board meeting. Sign up here before 10 AM the day of the meeting to speak at the Public Session.
