The Manhattan Community Board 8 Roosevelt Island Committee chaired by resident Paul Krikler held their monthly virtual meeting last evening, July 6. Among the topics covered were a presentation by the Roosevelt Island NY Public Library Branch manager on upcoming programs and activities as well as an update on the status of the Steam Plant demolition by representatives of the Architectural Community Alliance of Roosevelt Island (ArchRI)
Mr Krikler expressed the hope that the CB 8 Roosevelt Island virtual committee meetings become a forum for Roosevelt Island residents to address local community issues of concern. According to Mr. Krikler:
I’d very much like it if you could all just spread the word. If any of you or people you know have something they would like to bring up at this meeting, people are very welcome to bring it up. I love how we have the folks for many months with the Steam Plant campaign speaking here and I can’t help think there are more people. So I’m going to put some messaging out over the next few days about that including here.
Please if you have anybody else, if there’s something they’d like to bring to this meeting, if somebody would like a place to have a meeting, a place to talk about something important and see if other people have that same view and get together this is that place. So I want it to be a real community space virtual as it is.
