The Paramount+ Dexter: Resurrection television series season 2 was filming on Roosevelt Island yesterday, August 31, near Coler hospital
and the Tram Plaza area.

Filming also took place inside one of the Roosevelt Island Tram cabins during the morning rush hour. According to a Roosevelt Island resident waiting for the Tram:
Gotta love a tram being rented out for cinematic purposes as a decent sized group of residents waits for tram watching a damn near empty one stall for 5 minutes and go off…
I asked Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) Communications & Public Affairs Director Becky Beaver:
I’m told there was a film crew taking over one tram cabin this morning during rush hour. I believe it was for Dexter TV show. Is that true? What is the RIOC policy on film crews taking a tram cabin out of service? FYI. Residents who were waiting for the Tram because of film crew were not pleased.
Ms Beaver replied:
Yes that is accurate. HBO {Paramount+} filed a permit to film on the island for Dexter: Resurrection. This was also approved by Darren McCarthy at Poma. Today was the only day for filming exclusively on the north tram car for a few hours which is now complete. The South tram was operating as usual during the filming schedule.
The time they had the permit for was 10:15 AM to 2:37 PM
Ms Beaver added:
Slight update on this. Darren McCarthy allowed them to access the tram before the permitted time due to the tram having less than 20 people on the platform. And the permit was issued for 10 AM, not the 10:15 that I originally had seen. So they began their set up at 9:45 instead of 10.
Here’s the RIOC policy regarding filming on the Roosevelt Island Tram.
The Roosevelt Island Tramway has hosted hundreds of film shoots of all sizes and scopes. Here are the general guidelines for filming on the Tram:
- Filming on the Tram may be permitted on weekdays ONLY between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., or between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. We do not permit filming on weekends or during “rush hour” times.
- Exclusive Use vs. Non-Exclusive Use – Exclusive use of a Tram cabin allows the production flexibility to control Tram cabin speed and direction. This includes the ability to stop the cabin for a shot or reverse. RIOC reserves the right to determine if an Exclusive Use permit will be required.
Another resident commented:
As far as RIOC is concerned residents are irrelevant, tourists and Roosevelt Island’s Q rating is what matters. Keep the image going – rent more 6 K units, sell more $2 Million apartments.
