New York City received its biggest snowfall in the last 4 years with approximately 10 inches falling on Central Park today.

Here on Roosevelt Island, people came out to practice their cross county skiing, sled down the hills at Cornell Tech and walk around enjoying the scenery while others worked delivering take-out food by bicycle and remove the snow from our streets and sidewalks.

The Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) reported:

Dear Roosevelt Island Community:

For the safety of our passengers and drivers, Red Bus service has been temporarily suspended as crews work to clear the roads. NYC Ferry has also suspended service for the rest of the day on all routes due to heavy snowfall.

If possible, please remain indoors and avoid travel. We will notify the community when Red Bus service resumes.

Thank you for your understanding.

According to RIOC:

Roads are too covered, the rate of snowfall was exceeding how quickly it could be removed. The Q102 got stuck near the Tram. We’re not looking for a similar incident.

CBS New York has more on today’s snowstorm.
