The folks at Manhattan Bird Alert and Hanabi have been helping to take care of Rosie with food and water and chronicling her daily activities since the Wild Turkey’s arrival on Roosevelt Island in May of 2024. Today Manhattan Bird Alert reports:
We hope to see Rosie back on Roosevelt Island soon.
UPDATE 4/14 – Hanabi shares moment just before Rosie flies off from Roosevelt Island over the East River to Manhattan’s Sutton Place area.
and more from Manhattan Bird Alert:
UPDATE 4/14 8:10 PM – Oh no, look what they’re doing to Rosie in Manhattan.

I miss her already. Almost every night she would sleep in a tree next to Rivercross and on those nights she would sleep elsewhere we would worry. I want her to come back with a mate!
I agree — I miss her. Her night-time roosting tree was right outside my window. However she does need a mate. I hope she realizes she has to fly farther away from NYC to find one.
Have there been any new sightings?
