New York City got about 4 inches of snow overnight and this morning.
Roosevelt Island kids had fun in the snow sledding on the Cornell Tech Hills.
I’ve never seen the snow removed so well from Roosevelt Island streets and sidewalks as they were today. It was very easy walking in all areas of Roosevelt Island from Riverwalk to Main Street, the WIRE Buildings, Manhattan Park, the Octagon and Coler Hospital. Even the area near the subway station and the waterfront promenade were cleaned of the snow.
Great job by the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) and building workers in removing the snow from our streets and sidewalks and making it safe to walk on.
According to RIOC Communications Director Bryant Daniels:
When we know significant snowfall is on its way, RIOC activates its Emergency Response Team protocols early to ensure the teams are aligned and prepared to respond accordingly. The Grounds team will begin pre-salting sidewalks and bus stops in advance of the storm, then work round the clock to clear the snow during and after it falls. They did a great job keeping our sidewalks and roads clean, and we appreciate their hard work.
If snowfall amounts are expected to exceed 12 inches we will ask motorists to move their cars, but for lesser amounts our Grounds team and DSNY can typically work around them.

Loved seeing the children sleighing in the snow.
