According to a June 10 Press Release from NY State Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright:

Assembly Member Rebecca A. Seawright hosted her 12th Annual Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony on June 9, 2026, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, honoring 40 exceptional women whose leadership, service, and achievements have strengthened communities across the Upper East Side, Yorkville, and Roosevelt Island….

“Tonight is one of the most meaningful evenings of the year because it allows us to recognize women who often spend their lives lifting others up without seeking recognition for themselves,” said Assembly Member Rebecca A. Seawright.

“As the first woman elected to represent her district, Rebecca Seawright has spent her career fighting for women, families, and underserved communities and this was one of the most inspiring events I’ve attended all year. The energy, leadership, and impact in the room were extraordinary, proving once again that when women lead, communities thrive, and Assemblymember Seawright is helping make it happen across the Upper East Side, Roosevelt Island, Yorkville, and beyond,” said keynote speaker Monica Morales, eight-time Emmy Award-winning PIX11 News TV host, and founder of the Monica Makes It Happen.

Eleven of the Women of Distinction honorees were Roosevelt Island residents.
