As previously reported, a group of Roosevelt Island residents who are Cornell Tech and Weill Cornell Medical students have created a series of handmade Busy Books for children that they sell at the Vendors Market next to the Roosevelt Island Saturday Farmers Market at Good Shepherd Plaza as well as their own Fluffy Tales website.

According to Dairui Yang, one of the Busy Book designers:

… we have designed a handmade Busy Book for toddlers and young children. Our parents assist us in crafting each book with care and attention. Our mission is to encourage quality family time. Many parents have shared concerns about their children spending excessive time on screens and withdrawing from family interactions. We aim to address this issue. The Busy Book offers a screen-free, interactive experience. It promotes bonding between parents and children through shared activities. Research indicates that such interactions are vital for early brain development…

Last Saturday I spoke with Dairui and his colleagues about their new Busy Book which is all about Roosevelt Island.

We are thrilled to introduce a new and very special addition to our collection

— the Roosevelt Island Edition Busy Book!

Inspired by the charm, beauty, and vibrant community of Roosevelt Island in New York City, this handmade felt busy book invites little ones to explore, learn, and play through a colorful journey across this unique island.

Each page in the Roosevelt Island Edition captures a different part of the island’s story…

I think kids and their parents will love the Roosevelt Island Busy Book.
