The Roosevelt Island Food Pantry has been operated in one form or another by the Roosevelt Island Disabled Association (RIDA) since 2020. I spoke with RIDA President Wendy Hersh in February 2020 during Covid about the Food Pantry.
Here’s an August 2024 conversation with Ms Hirsch and RIDA Co-President Barbara Parker describing the management of the Food Pantry and constant need for volunteers to help out. Most needed are those who are strong enough to do some heavy lifting.
