According to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) Instagram Page:

Operation: Smooth Ride

Our RIOC Maintenance team is out in full force tackling potholes across the Island, making every drive a little smoother. We’ve already done a major audit of the most egregious potholes on our roads to help guide our work.

Now we need you to join the mission. 🕵️‍♂️

Welcome to the Pothole Patrol.

See a pothole? Report it through our Brightly system so our team can track it and fix it fast. Every report helps us stay ahead and keep Roosevelt Island moving safely.

Potholes are a problem all over New York City.

  1. It’s a 3.6 mile loop, what is there to report ??? RIOC, you can walk it and note the issues quite quickly….
Also considering the roads under the bridge have been crumbling for years and RIOC staff drive over them every day with busses and maintenance vehicles etc I don’t buy how this is a “mission”…..

ps. speaking of infrastructure, what about the crumbling and closed East River Piers, all 3 on the west side of the Island, the crumbling walking paths, the steam tunnel that needs work done to it, the bumpy helix road from the bridge, the steel panel on the walking path behind Westview that has been there for years….the inconsistent signs that say to cyclists “yield to pedestrians” in one direction and the other direction on the same path it says “walk your bike”

Can we maybe have a whole of island transit plan for walking, cycling, cars, public transit etc as well as a long term plan to rehabilitate the roads and paths ?

  2. What about the ramp their’s a big pothole their they missed. How about the uneven roadway by IS 217 I submitted 1 picture of the puddling when it rains by the crosswalk nothing been done?? Someone is going to fall and get hurt by the uneven roadway by IS 217!!
    Thank you,
