According to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC):
You are invited to attend an Opioid Overdose Prevention training and our next Public Safety Department (PSD) Community Engagement Meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Community Center (543 Main Street).
During this event, participants will learn how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose and will receive a free Narcan kit. The session will also include RIOC’s regular PSD Community Engagement Meeting, providing an opportunity for residents to connect with PSD leadership and discuss public safety matters.
We hope to see you there!

We are a “working community.” Most working folks can’t possibly make a meeting at 4 pm on a weekday. PSD’s timeframe of 4 to 6 for a public meeting is a sham so they can claim they’re holding public meetings when they’re doing so at times that exclude the public.
Further, I’d like to know why , since they claim they execute vertical patrols in the Landings, why they failed to spot and report the dangerous fire safety conditions that violated FDNY’s regulations. Seems that “fire safety” is not a “safety” issue for our Public SAFETY Department!!!
