I published post today about a potentially dangerous unattended fire barrel at the Roosevelt Island Community Garden.
Does RIOC have any comment.
During the past two weeks RIOC representatives advised that they were looking into the matter and yesterday I received the following response from RIOC’s Press Spokesperson:
RIOC has met with Ron Schuppert, President of the Roosevelt Island Garden Club, to discuss the recent incident in which a fire barrel was used to destroy debris. Mr. Schuppert agreed that it was an inappropriate action, and it created a potentially hazardous situation. Mr. Schuppert also indicated that the barrel has been removed from the site, and has assured RIOC that no similar incidents will happen. We appreciate the cooperation of Mr. Schuppert and the Garden Club.
