Great News for Roosevelt Island dive bar drinkers.

Image From Google Maps The NY Post reports today:

Subway Inn lovers, rejoice!
The beloved dive bar has found a new home two blocks east. The grungy but cozy tavern, forced out of its longtime home at 143 E. 60th St. by a new development, has signed a lease at 1140 Second Ave., a storefront now occupied by the Blue Room sports bar….

According to Gothamist:

… The Salinas family have signed a lease at 1140 Second Avenue, according to the Post, taking over the Blue Room bar space right next to the Queensboro Bridge entrance and the Roosevelt Island Tram…

Bloomberg adds

… The space will look exactly the same, Salinas wrote. Colors, floor and all! In fact, our replication architect is hard at work making sure our new home will be nearly identical….

Here’s the soon to be new home of the Subway Inn right across the street from the Roosevelt Island Tram Manhattan Station. The Roosevelt Island Tram ride may never be the same – Bottoms Up.
