The Roosevelt Island Parents’ Network and Roosevelt Island Explorers are together hosting a June 11 Arts & Crafts event for Roosevelt Island Day. According to RIPN coordinator Eva Bosbach:
You are invited for a day of Arts & Crafts with Roosevelt Island Explorers and Roosevelt Island Parents Network!
When: Roosevelt Island Day – Saturday, June 11, 2016, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Where: Blackwell Park
We are continuing the On Roosevelt Island We… initiative by creating multiple art projects where children use their hands and feet and imagination to create colorful paintings on canvas.
Among the things children can paint are:
- On RI We Take First Steps in which babies and toddlers can print their first steps;
- On RI WE Grow in which children of all ages can print their hands and feet in age-ascending order to show how “We Grow”;
- On RI We Grow Gardens in which children and adults of any age can use their hands and/or feet to paint vegetables, fruits, flowers, trees, etc…
In addition, the RI Explorers will play with the fountain cubes and chalk and, as in previous years, create a yarn web between the trees.
Children are encouraged to participate in all activities – it will be a very lively site!
If you would like to assist children and parents as a volunteer at the event, please let us know it will be more successful and more fun!
This is a great event for children and the community, and what better date than to have it on Roosevelt Island Day!
We hope to see you there,
Natalia, Neha, Lauren, Eva and Leila
