Dear friends,

We hope this finds you well.

We’re delighted to warmly invite you to our next Roosevelt Island Concert:

Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 7:30 PM
Good Shepherd Center, 543 Main Street, New York, NY 10044

Program
BEETHOVEN – Twelve Variations on
“See, the conqu’ring hero comes”, WoO 45
BRITTEN – Sonata in C, Op. 65
BEETHOVEN – Sonata No. 3 in A major, Op. 69

Performers

Raman Ramakrishnan, cello

Benjamin Hochman, piano

This program traces an expressive arc from Beethoven’s youthful brilliance to Britten’s modern lyricism and back to Beethoven’s beloved Op. 69 Sonata. We’ll hear playfulness and swashbuckling virtuosity in the Beethoven Variations, and how much deeper, richer, and more powerful Beethoven’s music becomes in the later Sonata. Britten is a composer unlike any other – his is a musical voice that runs the gamut of human emotions, while reflecting the complexities of the 20thcentury.

Raman and Benjamin have been friends and musical partners for many years, making this event particularly meaningful.

Please enjoy this video of Raman and Benjamin performing on Cello and Piano at the August 2023 Portland Chamber Music Festival.

Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $25, or $15 for seniors and students, and all are warmly welcome.

Roosevelt Island is especially beautiful in the fall — we’d be delighted to share the evening with you. Please feel free to pass this invitation along to friends or colleagues who might enjoy an evening of chamber music on Roosevelt Island.

Finally, do mark your calendars for our holiday concert on Sunday December 21, 2025 at 7 pm, in a program of festive Baroque gems curated and led by violinist Carmen Johnson-Pájaro.

Here’s Roosevelt Island Concerts presentation of Schubert:Symphony No.5 in August 2021 at the Good Shepherd Chapel.

We hope to see you for our November 1 Duo Dialogues: Beethoven & Britten at the Good Shepherd Community Center.

With all best wishes,

Benjamin, Ralph, Marc, Iris, and Yiheng
