NYC Mayor Eric Adams hosted a final roundtable meeting with local ethnic and community media yesterday, December 15, as his administration is coming to an end on December 31, 2025.

I asked Mayor Adams about the recently announced Roosevelt Island Master Lease 10 year extension agreement between New York City and NY State and the future of Roosevelt Island residential development.

Mayor Adams began by noting that Roosevelt Island is “one of the best kept secrets of NYC”. He said the Master Lease has not yet been signed, he hopes it will be signed before the end of this year and that any future residential development should be, if not 100%, at least 50% affordable. Mayor Adams added that future Roosevelt Island development issues will be handled by the next administration.

Mayor Adams roundtable meeting with the NYC Ethnic & Community Media Roundtable was a very interesting Q&A session. Mayor Adams discussing the accomplishments of his administration and warned about the policies of Mayor-elect Mamdani. According to Mayor Adams:

… Every day New Yorkers are simple. They want to get to that place safe. They want their children to be educated. They want to be gainfully employed. And they just want to live a comfortable life. But how do you get there? What New Yorkers don’t know, they don’t know the DSA. They don’t know this group that is closely aligned with Zohran and their policies, if he were to follow them, are destructive to the quality of life of our city….

  1. What “accomplishments”? Oh right, running one of the most corrupt & incompetent administrations ever, lining the pockets of his cronies, and bending the knee to far right extremists, at the expense of working New Yorkers. Not “very interesting” at all, just predictable sour grapes from a loser who couldn’t even win his own reelection primary.
