L’Shanah Tovah!
We look forward to your presence over the next few days, as we invite you to set up our Sanctuary in the Small Studio in the Cultural Center (548 Main Street), as well as gathering together for our High Holiday services & activities, led by Cantor Myerson & Student Rabbi Elyse Wolman. In this week’s Torah parashah, Nitsavim, Moses urges the Israelites, “choose life, that you may live!”On Rosh HaShanah starting Monday night, Jewish people all over the world will turn that plea back to God, chanting Zokhrenu, “Remember us for life, Monarch who delights in life, and inscribe us in the Book of Life, for Your sake, God of Life.”
May we each be blessed to merit a year of life and health, joy and goodness, sustenance and prosperity, love and appreciation. A year of life free from sorrow, strengthened through times of difficulty by our community, and may we know peace. Ken yehi ratson – may this be God’s will.
I’m looking forward to welcoming the Jewish New Year with you, our service schedule is as follows:
ROSH HASHANAH I
Monday September 22 at 7pm
Tuesday September 23 at 9:15am, with family services at 11:00am.
There will be an afternoon break, followed by Tashlikh at 4pm at the Meditation steps.
Please bring seeds, corn, peas, or oats (bread is harmful to sea birds), or if you’d prefer to do a reverse Tashlikh, a plastic bag to pick up trash from the shore.
ROSH HASHANAH II
Wednesday September 24 at 9:15am
YOM KIPPUR
Wednesday October 1 at 7pm (Kol Nidre)
Thursday October 2 at 9:15am, with family services at 11:00am and Yizkor at ~11:30am.
There will be an afternoon break, followed by Minha at 5:15pm, concluding Ne’ilah at 7:17pm
SUKKOT
Thursday October 9 at 6pm, Sukkot activities and dairy potluck in the Sukkah; location to be announced.
