Jack Schlossberg is among the Democratic Party primary candidates seeking to replace the retiring Jerry Nadler in representing the 12th congressional district which includes Roosevelt Island.

Mr Schlossberg, the grandson of President John F. Kennedy and son of Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, visited the Carter Burden Roosevelt Island Older Adult Center today to meet with and listen to the concerns of Roosevelt Island seniors.

Mr Schlossberg was introduced by Carter Burden Network Roosevelt Island Older Adult Center Director Lisa Fernandez and Carter Burden Network Executive Director Bill Dionne.

According to Mr Schlossberg:

… if you want to know why I’m running for Congress and why I’m running for office and politics right now, it’s because I believe that our country has stopped believing in itself and that we need to believe in ourselves, and in the federal government’s ability to solve big problems, to be there for the most vulnerable communities, and that our politics can do better than what we have now.

Young people, especially people my age, can step up to the plate on behalf of others to serve our community and our country. I’m from this district. I grew up in New York City. I love this place. And I think we deserve somebody who has a strong point of view and is going to serve with dignity, compassion, and courage in office. And so that’s what I would want to be for you. And I’m here today to introduce myself. So, thank you so much.

CBS New York has an in depth interview with Mr Schlossberg.
